Lawyer Davtyan: they wanted to leave women without safe abortions

Lawyer, human rights activist Marie Davtyan in conversation with URA.RU stated that the ban on abortion violates women’s constitutional rights.
According to her, the law banning abortions in private clinics violates two constitutional rights at once. First, private and public organizations are on an equal footing. And secondly, a person’s right to choose a medical organization.
Davtyan noted that the introduction of such projects requires clear constitutional arguments. For now, all we know is that it will help reduce the number of abortions. But this again contradicts the Constitution, because it says that human rights and freedoms are the highest value. No ideas should go against this point.
The expert added that this entire system is being created to prevent women from having time to terminate their pregnancy. This is due to the fact that the entire burden will fall on public medical institutions, where making an appointment with a doctor on average takes two weeks or more. They are trying to take away the right to the safest type of abortion from Russian women.
