What is Bangladesh
Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated developing countries, the eighth most populous country in the world – 169.4 million (Russia – 146 million). Textile production from developed countries has been transferred to it: 90% of exports are made by light industry products of Western companies (clothes, shoes and underwear). At the same time, Dhaka is trying to develop basic infrastructure, including energy. Since 2017, with the help of Rosatom and the funds of the Russian state loan of $12 billion, the Rooppur two-unit nuclear power plant (NPP) has been built. Two power units with VVER-1200 reactors should start operating in 2024. According to the Indian Business Standard, in April 2023, Moscow and Dhaka agreed that the amount of the current debt, equivalent to $318,000, against the backdrop of anti-Russian sanctions, the Bangladeshi side will pay in yuan.
