The West is “courting” Armenia and wants to be friends with it against Russia. This statement was made on Thursday, November 9, by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
As the diplomat emphasized on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, Moscow does not have any prejudices towards Armenia’s external partners. Lavrov said that Yerevan must independently determine its political course.
Earlier, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan said that the decision on the country’s participation in the Collective Security Treaty Organization summit in Minsk on November 23 has not yet been made. The diplomat emphasized that “both participation and non-participation are theoretically possible.”
At the same time, the head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Armenia Edward Asryan said that Yerevan will maintain interaction with the United States in the military and in some other fields. According to him, cooperation is proceeding systematically and at a high level.
