Lavrov: The West does not fulfill its promises under the memorandum on grain exports

Western countries do not fulfill their promises under the memorandum of understanding on the export of Russian agricultural products, concluded by Russia with the UN. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
The minister pointed to the sanctions that hinder the export of agricultural products and fertilizers. According to Lavrov, the West is in no hurry to remove restrictions.
“Our Western colleagues are now not doing what we were promised by the UN Secretary General, namely, they are not making decisions on the exclusion of logistical sanctions that prevent the free access of grain and fertilizers to world markets,” said the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry (quote according to RIA Novosti).
Lavrov specified that Moscow is currently working with the UN to ensure that the agreements reached in Istanbul are implemented.
On July 22, representatives of Turkey and the UN signed separate agreements with representatives of Russia and Ukraine on the export of Ukrainian grain, as well as on assistance in the export of Russian grain and fertilizers. On July 27, the Joint Coordination Center for the export of grain began its work in Istanbul.
In early August, the Russian Foreign Ministry called on Western countries to implement the second part of the agreement, which concerns the memorandum between Russia and the UN. According to UN Secretary General António Guterres, the organization continues to seek the removal of all restrictions that prevent the export of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers that are not under sanctions.
On August 31, the Russian Foreign Ministry again indicated on non-compliance by the West with the second part of the grain deal. The department called for the implementation of all agreements “in parallel”.
