The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov, said that the share of trade between Russia and China in national currencies has reached about half of the turnover. This share will increase, he believes.
“Already half of our trade turnover is serviced in yuan and rubles. And this share is growing rapidly and will grow even more,” Mr. Lavrov said at a press conference on the results of the activities of Russian diplomacy in 2022 (TASS quote).
In 2022, the trade turnover between Russia and China increased by 29.3% in annual terms. The figure reached $190.27 billion, which was a record. Imports from Russia to China increased by 43.4% to $114.15 billion, exports from China to Russia increased by 12.8% to $76.12.
