Lavrov spoke about failed attempts to isolate Russia

Attempts to turn Russia into a “rogue state” and to isolate it have failed, and the chosen foreign policy course has shown its effectiveness. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a speech at the government hour in the State Duma.
“Attempts to isolate Russia have failed. Our enemies are also forced to admit this. The foreign policy course approved by the President for the firm defense of national interests while being open to broad equal international cooperation is proving its effectiveness,” he said.
Lavrov stressed that Russia proceeds from the fact that the modern world is multipolar. He recalled that the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, which make up the world’s majority, do not want to live by the rules that Western countries have come up with for themselves.
“Therefore, it is natural that three-quarters of the world’s states did not join the anti-Russian sanctions, they took a balanced position regarding the situation in Ukraine, which they rightly consider not in isolation, but in the context of the crisis of European security as a whole, which has long matured from NATO’s aggressive course,” Lavrov added.
On February 7, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry visited Bamako, the capital of Mali, where he met with President Assimi Goita and Foreign Minister Aboulaya Diop. They discussed issues of equal partnership, economic cooperation and security support. Later, the Foreign Minister of Mali said that Bamako opposes international economic sanctions against Russia in connection with the conflict in Ukraine. As part of this tour, Lavrov also visited Mauritania and Sudan. Prior to that, from January 23 to 27, he traveled to South Africa, Eswatini (formerly the country was called Swaziland), Angola and Eritrea.
