Military operations in Ukraine will end sooner or later, and Russia will defend the truth. Further developments will depend on the conclusions that Europe will make, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference following the results of Russian diplomacy in 2022.
“The war will end someday, we will still defend our truth. But how to continue to live, I still have no idea. Everything will depend on what conclusions Europe makes,” said minister.
During the press conference, Lavrov also noted that the formation of a multipolar world would be long and take “a certain historical era.” According to him, “the height of this process” is now underway.
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry explained that it would take time to formalize the relations that are necessary for “democracy and justice to reign in the world.” He called the UN Charter “a good foundation”, adding with regret that the West had “perverted” the correct principles.
At the same time, Lavrov expelled the possibility of negotiations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The minister recalled that the Ukrainian leader signed a decree refusing to negotiate with Russia as long as Vladimir Putin is its president. Lavrov also called Zelensky’s ideas for a peaceful settlement of the conflict “absurd.” At the same time, Russia is ready to respond to serious proposals for negotiations with Ukraine, but so far has not received any, he added.
Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took full control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia.
