Foreign Minister Lavrov: G7 decisions aimed at double containment of Russia and China
The decisions of the G7 summit in Japan’s Hiroshima are aimed at containing Russia and China, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Saturday.
“Look at … the decisions that are being discussed and adopted today on Russia at the G7 summit, which are aimed at double deterrence of Russia and the People’s Republic of China,” the head of Russian diplomacy said, speaking at the XXXI Assembly of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy.
The countries of NATO and the European Union, according to Lavrov, set themselves the goal of “defeating Russia on the battlefield”, as well as eliminating it as a geopolitical competitor.
Earlier it was reported that the leaders of the G7 decided to accelerate the rejection of energy from Russia and promised to pay special attention to reducing the need for Russian gas.
