Lavrov called on Kyiv to stop fighting to save hundreds of thousands of lives
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov began speaking at the UN Security Council at a meeting on the supply of foreign weapons to Kyiv. The Russian diplomat noted that Moscow is ready for negotiations on Ukraine, but not on how to keep the current leaders of the Kyiv regime in power.
Commenting on the “peace formula” promoted by Kiev, Lavrov said that this is a path to nowhere. The sooner the United States and the European Union realize this, the better, the minister emphasized.
Sergei Lavrov emphasized that if Ukraine stops fighting today, then hundreds of thousands of its citizens will not have to die for Western geopolitical interests.
Earlier, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, at a meeting with the head of the Estonian Foreign Ministry in Sofia, expressed hope that the Ukrainian conflict could be resolved thanks to diplomacy. Politicians noted that the secondary effects of the crisis affect the economic and social systems of European countries.
At the same time, on the sidelines of the economic forum in Davos they also called for focusing on a diplomatic end to the conflict in Ukraine. Forum participants publicly and privately insist on a diplomatic cessation of fighting.
