Lavrov did not agree with Yerevan’s statement about the “surrender” of Karabakh to Baku

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the statement about the “surrender” of Nagorno-Karabakh to Azerbaijan “incorrect and dishonest.”

On September 3, Pashinyan, in an interview with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, said that Russia is moving away from the South Caucasus, and Russian peacekeepers do not control the Lachin corridor. Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov disagreed with Pashinyan and noted that Russia “is an absolutely integral part of this region, so it cannot go anywhere.”
Since the end of August, Baku and Yerevan have accused each other of shelling. Pashinyan, in connection with the concentration of Azerbaijani troops, stated that Azerbaijan “demonstrates its intention to start a new military provocation against Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia.” Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov reportedthat Russia continues “scrupulous, consistent, constructive” work with both Yerevan and Baku.
