Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov conveyed to Brazilian President Lula da Silva an invitation from his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to visit Russia, Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira said.
“Mr. Lavrov also conveyed President Putin’s invitation to President Lula to arrange an official visit to Russia. And we will work to determine dates that are convenient for both sides,” said Vieira (quote according to RIA Novosti).
Lavrov noted earlier that Russia and Brazil have good prospects for cooperation in the use of peaceful atom, the parties outlined a schedule for the restoration of the work of bilateral institutions. According to Lavrov, the parties are also interested in developing the peaceful use of outer space.
Lavrov and Vieira held talks in the capital of the republic. Lavrov will also receive the President of Brazil. In addition, the Russian minister will meet with the adviser to the President of Brazil on international issues, ex-Foreign Minister Celso Amorim.
