Lavrov called the transfer of F-16 to Ukraine a nuclear threat to Russia

“In the course of hostilities, our military will not figure out whether each specific aircraft of the specified type is equipped for the delivery of nuclear weapons or not. The very fact of the appearance of such systems in the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be considered by us as a threat from the West in the nuclear sphere,” he said.
The minister noted that Moscow had warned the nuclear powers not to ignore the ability of these fighters to carry nuclear weapons. According to Lavrov, NATO countries create the risk of a direct armed clash with Russia, the consequences of which would be catastrophic.
Lavrov recalled that the conditions for the use of nuclear weapons by Russia are determined by the Military Doctrine, according to which the Russian side can use nuclear weapons in several cases. In particular, this can happen if there is reliable information about the launch of ballistic missiles attacking the territory of Russia, if nuclear weapons or other types of weapons of mass destruction are used on the territory of the country, if the enemy impacts on critical state or military facilities of the Russian Federation, the destruction of which will lead to the disruption of the retaliatory actions of nuclear forces, as well as if there is an aggression against Russia with the use of conventional weapons, when the very existence of the state is threatened.
Russian authorities notedthat the supply of fighter jets to Kyiv will not change the situation on the line of contact, but Russia will give a military-technical response in the event that an F-16 appears in the sky of Ukraine. On June 16, at the SPIEF plenary session, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasizedthat the fighters that got to Ukraine will burn in the same way as the Leopard tanks. According to him, the Russian army successfully destroys this equipment when repelling attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
