“We have made our goals very clear and honest. But what is the goal of the United States, NATO, the European Union? Pump up Ukraine with weapons, and now this ridiculous theory has appeared: let’s now provide Ukraine with a successful counteroffensive, and then ask Ukraine, Zelensky to start negotiations. This is some kind of schizophrenic logic,” he said.
Lavrov recalled that Moscow wants “threats to our security not to emanate from the territory of Ukraine,” which have been accumulating there for a long time. At the same time, people who live on the territory of Ukraine and associate themselves with the Russian world should not be subjected to discrimination and the threat of extermination, Lavrov stressed.
Ukraine announces a counteroffensive from the winter. On March 10, adviser to the head of the country’s presidential office, Mikhail Podolyak, in an interview with the Italian newspaper La Stampa, said that the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine could begin within the next two months. On April 17, the American magazine Newsweek, citing secret documents leaked to the network, reported that the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine could begin on April 30, after the completion of the supply of Western weapons.
The military operation of Russia in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022.
