The G20 summit in New Delhi was a success, the G20 is undergoing internal reform, stated During a press conference following the summit, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“The summit is an unconditional success, for the Indian presidency, for all of us. The G20 is undergoing internal reform. This was manifested in the significant activation of G20 members from the Global South,” said he (quote from RIA Novosti).

With the support of India, the countries persistently sought to take into account their interests, and as a result they were included in the declaration, the minister noted. According to him, the countries of the Global South sought to “strengthen their role in the mechanisms of global governance so that it adequately reflects its real weight in world affairs.”

“The declaration sets out the tasks of the reform and the IMF, where for a long time now, if quotas and votes are fairly divided, the Americans will not have a blocking ticket, which is preserved artificially. And the summit, of course, will give a serious positive impetus to efforts to reform both the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the WTO, which are so far artificially restrained by the Americans and their allies,” Lavrov said.

The G20 meeting was held in New Delhi on September 9-10. The representative of the Russian Federation in the G20, Svetlana Lukash, told reporters that the summit in India was one of the most difficult in the entire history of the group, but the collective position of the BRICS countries worked. According to her, this is due not only to disagreements on the Ukrainian topic, but also to differences in positions on all key issues – primarily on the topic of climate change and the transition to low-carbohydrate energy systems.
