Lavrov arrived in Minsk to participate in the CSTO meeting

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov arrived in Minsk to attend a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO). About it reported Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova in her Telegram channel.

“RIA News” clarifythat the countries participating in the agreement, which will be represented by the foreign ministers of all six countries, will hold a meeting where it is planned to discuss the prospects for further cooperation. The parties also plan to discuss the state of the international situation and its impact on the security of the CSTO countries.

In addition, a meeting of the heads of foreign affairs agencies with the president of the host country – Belarus – Alexander Lukashenko is planned.

The organization includes Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Armenia. At the same time, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the end of May declaredthat the republic can withdraw from the agreement if the organization itself leaves the country. Then he noted that if the CSTO leaves Armenia, then Yerevan will independently resolve issues of its security.

A week before, on May 16, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Mnatsakan Safaryan informedthat the Security Council of the republic discussed the withdrawal from the CSTO, but now this is not being discussed.
