Lavrov announced Putin’s meeting with the President of Mozambique at the Russia-Africa summit

Presidents of Russia and Mozambique Vladimir Putin and Filipe Nyusi have a separate meeting scheduled on the sidelines of the July Russia-Africa summit. This was announced by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who is now in Mozambique.

“We are waiting for a representative delegation of Mozambique headed by President Filipe Nyusi. In addition to the forum events, there will be a separate bilateral meeting between the leaders of Russia and Mozambique,” leads words of the Minister of TASS.

The second Russia-Africa summit will be held in St. Petersburg on July 26-29.

In March, Putin spoke at the plenary session of the international parliamentary conference “Russia – Africa in a multipolar world”, the event became a preparation for the second summit “Russia – Africa”. Putin said that the first Russia-Africa summit, which took place in Sochi in 2019, allowed Russia to revive ties with the states of the continent. Moscow “has always given and will continue to give priority to cooperation with African states,” the president said, calling it one of the invariable priorities of Russian foreign policy.

In his opinion, Africa will become one of the leaders of “the emerging new multipolar world order.” The head of state stressed that African countries are striving to pursue an independent and sovereign foreign and domestic policy, and said that Russia and Africa “oppose the neo-colonial ideology imposed from outside.”
