Finland accuses Russia of violating the Vienna Convention

RBC: the Finnish embassy believes that the Russian authorities obstruct its work
Representatives of the Finnish Embassy in Russia told RBC that Moscow violated the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations by freezing the accounts of Finnish diplomatic missions in Russia. The embassy notes that neither the authorities of Finland nor its Foreign Ministry have restricted the provision of banking services to Russian representative offices, and their accounts have not been frozen. That is, there are no reasons for Russian bans as “mirror” measures.
Meanwhile, earlier, as I recalled, by imposing restrictions on the Russian side of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Russian embassy in Finland was allowed for a certain time to use only one account in exactly one bank. At the same time, any transactions on this account are preceded by a “long approval process” and are accompanied by the collection of a “prohibitive” commission of €5,000, regardless of the amount of the transfer.
Meanwhile, the Finnish embassy told RBC that they had not received any exhaustive explanation from the Russian Foreign Ministry about the reasons for the freezing of funds, and, moreover, they had not yet received a response to the corresponding note of the Finnish embassy dated May 4.
“Finland believes that Russia is violating the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations,” the diplomatic mission told the publication.
