Lavrov accused Kyiv of damaging the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine

The damage to civilian infrastructure in Ukraine is due to the fact that the Kyiv side is deploying weapons and air defense systems in residential areas, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“We are not hitting civilian infrastructure, and there is a lot of evidence for that. Everything that happens in terms of damage to civilian infrastructure in Ukraine is connected with the criminal actions of the Kyiv regime, which for many months purposefully deploys both heavy weapons and air defense systems in residential areas,” Lavrov said (quote according to RIA Novosti).

On January 14, the Ministry of Defense announced a missile attack on the military command and control system of Ukraine and related energy facilities. Then the defense department clarified that all targets were successfully hit.

On October 10, the Russian military began to strike at Ukraine’s critical infrastructure. Russian President Vladimir Putin, during an operational meeting with members of the Security Council, said that such a decision was made in response to Ukrainian attempts at terrorist attacks on Russian territory, including an explosion on the Crimean bridge. He emphasized that the reaction to such actions would be tough.

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation at the end of September, the LPR, DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions became part of Russia. Later, martial law was introduced on the territory of these regions.
