The Latvian Migration Service asked the employees of Dozhd (included in the register of foreign media agents) to tell what they will do after the TV channel was deprived of its broadcasting license, transmits LSM.lv.
According to the head of the migration department, Maira Rose, the TV channel received 13 visas to ensure the operation of the TV channel. Directors, cameramen and other employees received permission. Now that the channel is not working, it is important for the migration service to understand whether Dozhd employees will continue to work in their specialty.
The Latvian authorities have set a deadline by which all clarifications must be submitted: 20 December.
The department emphasized that Dozhd employees would not be expelled from the country if they did not plan to look for a similar previous job. Instead, they can get a visa “for humanitarian reasons” if the person does not pose a threat to the security of Latvia.
