The Latvian authorities are deporting at least 1,213 Russian citizens who did not comply with the instructions of the migration legislation and requested a residence permit, Delfi reports with reference to the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs of the republic.
These 1,213 people did not submit the necessary documents for obtaining residence permits in Latvia within the deadline, which was changed by amendments to the immigration law and expired on November 30. At the moment, there is no evidence that these citizens have already left the country.
Of the citizens of the Russian Federation who delayed submitting documents, 1,344 people submitted applications for some kind of residence permit (for example, temporary rather than permanent) by November 30. According to available information, 904 people crossed the external border of Latvia and have already left the country.
