Lambrecht banned tank checks before the meeting at the Ramstein base

Former German Defense Minister Christina Lambrecht, a week before leaving office, banned the inventory of Leopard tanks in service with the Bundeswehr, Business Insider reports. The ban was introduced due to concerns about Allied pressure on Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Just a week before her resignation, according to the publication, Lambrecht instructed not to conduct an inventory of the Bundeswehr tanks Leopard 1 and Leopard 2. Representatives of her department, meanwhile, offered to conduct such a calculation in order to provide, if necessary, accurate information on the issue of possible deliveries.
The minister, in a similar way, as indicated in the material, tried to divert suspicions from the chancellor of unwillingness to supply tanks to Ukraine. The logic is this – “the count of combat-ready tanks could be interpreted as a readiness to supply them.”
Lambrecht previously revealed that she had filed a petition to be removed from office. She explained her decision by the excessive attention of the German media to her own person.
