Ministry of Commerce and Economy of Kyrgyzstan reportedthat the customs service has strengthened export control measures for dual-use goods. The decision was made after consultations with the US and the EU. The ministry’s report acknowledges a single violation of sanctions restrictions.
According to the measures taken, dual-use products will be allowed to be imported and exported from Kyrgyzstan only after the provision of all necessary permits. The ministry said that in 2022, 14 Chinese DJI Agras T30 drones were detained in Kazakhstan, which were being transported to the Russian Federation from Kyrgyzstan. According to the Ministry of Economy, drones are included in the national list of controlled products.
According to the law, such dual-use goods are subject to licensing for import, export, re-export and transit. The ministry said the supplier company did not apply for import documents in 2022. The agency claims that this was the only violation of export controls and the company was held liable.
Earlier today newspaper The Washington Post reported that the United States may announce new measures of economic coercion against Kyrgyzstan in response to technological and military supplies to Russia. According to the sources of the publication, the administration of US President Joe Biden began to develop sanctions after “several months of fruitless visits by many American and European diplomats” to Bishkek.
