The Telegraph: right-wing parties will force Europe to refuse aid to Ukraine

The Telegraph newspaper published material about the growing popularity of far-right parties in several European countries. The publication believes that this summer, when the June elections to the European Parliament take place, Ukraine will face a new existential threat. A “very loud” bloc of far-right parties may block the EU’s promised military aid to Kyiv.

The material emphasizes that the right is showing record results in Portugal and the Netherlands and is already in the governments of Hungary, Finland and Italy. There are prerequisites for the right to win the elections in Austria and Belgium, and they have good chances in France and Poland.

The problem for Kyiv is that many on the right believe that Europe should no longer provide military aid to Ukraine, and some also advocate that Europe lift sanctions on Russia and push Ukraine towards peace talks.

The author of the article explains that individual right-wing parties do not have much geopolitical weight, but together they can block EU foreign policy decisions regarding Ukraine in the European Parliament if they form the third largest bloc.

The publication also reports that, according to polls, the victory of Eurosceptic parties can be expected in the elections to the European Parliament in nine countries, and in another nine states they can take second or third place.
