The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NACP) of Ukraine has suspended the status of “international war sponsor” for the Hungarian OTP Bank to receive €500 million in assistance from the European Union, the Ukrainian agency reported.
The agency has suspended such statuses for five Greek shipping companies: Dynacom Tankers Management, Thenamaris Ships Management Inc., Delta Tankers LTD, Minerva Marine, TMC Tankers LTD.
“The decision was made based on the results of negotiations between representatives of the agency and representatives of companies and governments of these countries to terminate cooperation with the Russian Federation,” the NAPC added. It is clarified that companies will be finally removed from the register only after the “specified conditions” are met.
NAPC of Ukraine added the Hungarian OTP Bank Group to the list of “international war sponsors” on May 4. The Ukrainian department explained this by the work of the bank in Russia after the start of the special operation. In response, Hungarian authorities said that the country plans to block EU military assistance to Ukraine until sanctions against OTP are lifted.
20 July Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations of Hungary Peter Szijjártó statedthat Hungary will require a report on the expenditure of funds already allocated to Ukraine. Hungary also demanded to ensure the rights of ethnic Hungarians living on the territory of Ukraine.
