Kyiv asked the new Prime Minister of Poland Tusk to meet with Zelensky

Ukraine asked the new head of the Polish Cabinet, Donald Tusk, to meet with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky. Tusk himself spoke about this on Wednesday, December 13.
According to the Polish politician, Kyiv requested the meeting for the morning of Thursday, December 14, but technical issues require clarification.
Tusk assured that he would hold this meeting “with great joy,” although he noted that “joy is not the best word, given the topic and context.”
Relations between Kyiv and Warsaw sharply deteriorated when Poland, among a number of Eastern European countries, unilaterally banned the import of Ukrainian grain in order to protect national agricultural producers. The Ukrainian authorities threatened arbitration proceedings and demanded the intervention of the European Commission, while the Polish ones insisted on the priority of the interests of their farmers.
The newly elected Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk promised firmly defend the interests of one’s country in relations with Ukraine. According to him, Warsaw’s full participation in relation to Kyiv does not mean complete confidence on the part of the neighboring state, especially when it comes to Polish interests.
