Behind the cyber attack on the Russian video hosting Rutube on May 9 are Ukrainian hackers, declared Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mikhail Fedorov in a comment to Bloomberg.

According to him, since the beginning of hostilities in Ukraine, the so-called “IT-army” has repeatedly disrupted the work of Russian services. Fedorov clarified that the hackers also carried out an attack on Rutube, timed to coincide with Victory Day.

“The IT army even managed to crack the badges of RuTube employees so that they could not get inside the company,” he said.

May 9 Rutube press service informedthat an APT (Advanced Targeted Continuous Attack) took place that night. “The May incident became the strongest in terms of power and led to the loss of access to the platform,” the video hosting said, adding that third parties did not get access to the video archive, and the entire library was stored on the service. Work was resumed only on May 11.

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals.
