Kuyvashev and Orlov opened Kalininets stadium after reconstruction

On June 1, the governor of the Sverdlovsk region Evgeny Kuyvashev and the head of Yekaterinburg Alexei Orlov opened the Kalininets athletics stadium, the reconstruction of which was completed for the 300th anniversary of the capital of the Urals.
“I sincerely rejoice with you at the opening of a grandiose sports facility. According to experts, there are no such people in our country, – Evgeny Kuyvashev said at the ceremony. – I wish that Olympic champions will definitely be brought up at this stadium. And let this stadium give strength, confidence and desire to play sports.”
Alexey Orlov thanked the government of the Sverdlovsk region and personally the governor for the great attention given to the development of children’s, mass and professional sports.
“Only this year, such facilities as the Palace of Rhythmic and Aesthetic Gymnastics, the Palace of Judo, the Palace of Water Sports were opened in the city – there has never been such a facility in Yekaterinburg,” Alexei Orlov emphasized.
During the reconstruction of the sports facility, sectors for pole vaulting, discus and hammer throwing were updated, a sector for a triple jump was equipped, and a sector for shot put was repaired. The treadmills got synthetic turf, two new LED screens and four new lighting towers.
Already on June 2, Kalininets will begin inter-regional athletics competitions, which will be attended by 400 people.
The reconstruction of Kalininets began in the fall of 2021. The swimming pool, sports halls were repaired, an indoor ice arena appeared, stands for 5,000 seats. The total amount of financing amounted to 2.5 billion rubles, including 2.2 billion rubles from the regional budget.
Earlier, MK-Ural reported that in the fall of 2022, Evgeny Kuivashev allocated 384 million rubles ahead of schedule for the reconstruction of the Kalininets athletics stadium. The funds were sent to Yekaterinburg in the form of subsidies in 2022 in preparation for the International University Sports Festival.
