Kuril volcano Chikurachki threw a column of ash 4 kilometers high

On Monday, on the active Chukurachki volcano on the Kuril island of Paramushir, experts recorded an ash ejection to a height of up to 4 kilometers. This is stated in the publication on the website of the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Group (KVERT) of the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The report clarifies that at the moment the eruptive activity of the volcano continues. According to satellite data obtained by specialists, the ash plume has already stretched for 70 kilometers to the east of the volcano.
It is noted that Chikurachki is one of the most active volcanoes of the Kuril Islands, and its strongest eruptions occurred in 1853 and 1986.
