Kuraev was surprised by his inclusion in the list of foreign agents

Religious figure Andrei Kuraev was surprised to be included in the register of foreign agents. He commented on the hit to RBC.
According to the former archdeacon, he did not allow statements only on political topics, especially about military actions. Kuraev also claims that he did not repost foreign agents on his blog and even posted his own interviews there very rarely. “It turns out that I answered surveys that were addressed to me. This is an amazing thing. That is, responsibility for answering questions,” the religious figure told RBC.
On December 22, Kuraev, along with six other individuals and legal entities, was included by the Ministry of Justice in the register of foreign agents. According to the official wording, he disseminated false information about the decisions taken by public authorities of the Russian Federation and the policies pursued by them, opposed the SVO, participated as a respondent on information platforms provided by foreign structures, and lives outside of Russia.
Since April 2023, Andrei Kuraev has been deprived of the rank of protodeacon and banned from serving by the Russian Orthodox Church. The religious figure himself refused to recognize this decision of the Diocesan Church Court of Moscow, approved by Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ Kirill.
In November, Kuraev posted on his blog a photo of a large number of suitcases, which was allegedly taken in the hotel lobby, and said that he “broke away on National Unity Day.” He also said that he had decided to move to the Czech Republic, but at the same time stated that his move was involuntary, since it was allegedly unsafe for him in Russia.
