Ukraine is facing several critical challenges in its counter-offensive and opposition to the Russian army, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said in an exclusive interview with Bild, Welt and Politico.
First, he noted, one of the main difficulties is the mined areas. Thus, the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has to crawl 200-300 meters a day in order to clear the corridors for the offensive. This is an extremely dangerous mission, which greatly complicates offensive operations.
The second major problem is the Russian defense lines, reinforced with concrete fortifications and steel structures. This creates significant obstacles to the breakthrough of the Ukrainian armed forces and requires significant efforts and resources to overcome such defensive positions, Kuleba added.
The third difficulty, he explained, is the dominance of Russian aviation. The Ukrainian military lacks effective anti-aircraft weapons. Kuleba stressed that many criticize the pace of the counter-offensive and consider it slow, but for Ukraine this is a huge effort and difficulty.
