Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba called on “not to fuss” over State Department statements about reducing aid to Kyiv

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba called on “not to boil over” and “not to throw yourself into a state of agony and depression.” There, the Foreign Minister commented on the earlier statement made by the State Department representative.

On Thursday, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said military support from the United States would continue, but not at the 2022-2023 level. He noted that in the future, funding for Kyiv from the United States and allies will not be necessary, since the goal of Western countries is that Ukraine can do without outside help and provide itself with everything from its own resources.

Kuleba believed that the State Department press secretary was talking about the distant future. “This was not about supporting Ukraine in 2024. The State Department made it clear that when Ukraine gets stronger and has enough resources and weapons, then the amount of assistance can be reduced.

Official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko also supported his patron. In his opinion, support will also change when Kyiv is able to independently provide for its needs.

“Aid to Ukraine is not charity. This is, first of all, an investment in the national security of the United States,” Nikolenko commented on the situation to the Ukrainian newspaper Economic Pravda.
