The former chairman of the Accounts Chamber (CA), Alexei Kudrin, upon his dismissal, recommended several people for the position of head of the department. About this he told TASS on the sidelines of the events of the Board of Trustees of the Northern Arctic Federal University (NArFU) in Arkhangelsk.

Kudrin said that there were “more than one” candidates. “I naturally recommended as soon as I left. Maybe they are under consideration, maybe they are looking for others,” he said. Kudrin refused to name the names of the candidates proposed by him.

When asked by TASS why the chairman of the joint venture has not yet been appointed, the ex-head joked that “it’s hard to find someone like me.”

Kudrin, who has been chairman of the joint venture since 2018, on November 30, 2022, he was released from his post ahead of schedule and went to work in “Yandex» as a corporate development advisor to the company. Kudrin worked as head of the Accounts Chamber for 4.5 years, his powers were to expire in May 2024.

Vedomosti sources close to the Joint Venture, the government and the Kremlin named Minister of Justice Konstantin Chuichenko as the main candidate for the post. In addition to him, the sources also named Andrey Makarov, chairman of the Duma Budget Committee, Andrey Kutepov, chairman of the Economic Policy Committee of the Federation Council, Vyacheslav Makarov, the first deputy head of the United Russia faction in the State Duma, and Mikhail Kotyukov, former speaker of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, Deputy Finance Minister Mikhail Kotyukov.

February 1 Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko informed reporters that the Council continues to work on the final list of three candidates for the presidency. She noted that “the original list was large, now it has already narrowed down.” Matviyenko also urged in this regard not to “guess on the coffee grounds”, citing Professor Preobrazhensky’s advice from the story “Heart of a Dog” – “do not read newspapers before dinner.” She promised to inform the media about the final three candidates “even before sending the list to the president.”
