Kuban athletes won 23 awards at the Russian Rowing Championship

Athletes from the Krasnodar Territory won 23 awards at the national rowing championship. The competition took place in the capital of Russia. Over 300 rowers from 19 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, as well as Belarus, competed for awards at the tournament.
Kuban was represented by 25 people at the competition. Vice Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Alexander Vlasov said that the athletes managed to win 23 medals. So, the Kuban won 8 gold awards, 10 silver and 5 bronze. The guys fought in the classic distance of 2,000 meters in single, double, four-seater and eight-seater crews. According to the results of all performances, athletes from the capital of the region took 21 medals, rowers from Temryuk and Slavyansk municipalities got 1 more medal. “Academic rowing in the region has been on the rise in recent years. One of the first testimonies was the performance of the athlete Elena Oryabinskaya at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, where she won silver. The success of our rowers at the Russian Open Championship is yet another confirmation that rowing in the region has received a new impetus for development,” commented Serafim Timchenko, Minister of Sports of the Kuban.
