In the Russian Football Cup, Baltika won a major victory, beating Akhmat from Grozny at home (4:1). In another match between Zenit and Krylya Sovetov, in which they were waiting for goals to be scored, it turned out not so productive. The hosts prevailed with a minimal score (1:0). Kommersant FM sports commentator Vladimir Osipov followed the development of events.
Russian football does not allow fans to relax: the matches of the 13th round of the RPL had barely died down when the Cup games immediately began. Moreover, this time the signs in the second most important tournament are very bright. One of them is “Zenith” – “Wings of the Soviets”. True, it must be said that the meeting did not decide anything for the clubs.
The current champion has already secured access to the play-offs, and the club from Samara confidently takes last place in the group and was eliminated from the competition, which, by the way, is rather good for the team. After all, now Krylia Sovetov will be able to focus on the championship.
At the same time, it was still worth watching the match, because Igor Osinkin’s players love to play attacking, and when there is no pressure on the players, it can turn out to be “fun football.” As for motivation, the players definitely had no problems with this, despite everything, said Samara club goalkeeper Evgeny Frolov: “The opportunity to beat Zenit at their stadium is always motivating, so there’s no need to get motivated.”
The teams started playing that same “fun football” from the first minutes. Only in the final stage something always got in the way – 0:0 after the first half, and when at the beginning of the second the ball did not enter the Zenit net after three shots at point-blank range, it seemed that some otherworldly forces were not allowing this to happen.
When, through the efforts of former Krylia player Ivan Sergeev, the Samara team scored, the goal was canceled because VAR had previously recorded a handball. Moreover, the foul occurred long before the goal was scored, and at first referee Pavel Kukuyan pointed to the center, but the VAR workers forced everything to be played back and the goal was cancelled.
As always, there were more questions than answers at such moments, but FIFA referee Sergei Lapochkin confidently said that everything was correct.
It is worth saying that about 25 thousand people gathered at the Gazprom Arena to watch football, and the hosts simply did not have the right to deprive the fans of scored goals. So at the very end, again, Ivan Sergeev was still able to do his job perfectly.
After this victory, Zenit goes to the play-offs of the Russian Cup from first place in Group C. Baltika, which is in second position, will play there together with Sergei Semak’s team.
On November 1, we will have another interesting meeting in the framework of the Spartak-Krasnodar tournament. Here the red and white have already secured first place in Group D. But it’s difficult to get around such a sign, and besides, the defeat of the national team has already seriously bothered the fans.
So we are waiting for the next experiments of the Spanish coach Guillermo Abascal, who is sincerely trying to put a good face on a bad game. The Spartak-Krasnodar match will start quite late, at 20:45, so you can have time to go to the football after work.
Firstly, you don’t need a Fan ID for the Cup games, secondly, tickets for the game start at 1.2 thousand rubles, and thirdly, weather forecasters promise warming up to +10 degrees. True, a little rain is possible in the evening, but this is not a problem, because rainy weather has been called Spartak weather for more than half a century.
