During the talks, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko discussed Wagner PMC, the Union State and the external threat “along the perimeter” of countries. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.

“The list of main topics on the agenda was outlined by the heads of state themselves when they met for the first time in St. Petersburg the day before yesterday. It was there that both Putin and Lukashenko told everything they would talk about. The theme of the Wagner group was also heard there, the theme of trade and economic cooperation, and the Union State, and the external threat along the perimeter of our countries,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

Peskov clarified that there was no goal to reach any agreements, and the meeting was to synchronize the position. “Here, it is within the framework of very close and regular relations that the presidents, as they say, synchronize their positions, synchronize their watches,” Peskov said.

On July 23, Lukashenka arrived in Russia for talks with Putin. Their meeting took place in the Konstantinovsky Palace in Strelna. Later presidents visited Valaam island. During the visit to the island, the leaders of both countries toured the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Valaam stauropegial monastery. The Kremlin emphasized that this monastery is one of the most revered in Russia, and more than 100,000 pilgrims and tourists visit it every year.
