Kremlin: deployment of arms production in Ukraine will not affect the conflict

The deployment of weapons production facilities of Western companies in Ukraine is not capable of fundamentally affecting the situation in the combat zone in Ukraine and hindering the fulfillment of the goals of the special operation. So the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov commented on the opening of the British BAE Systems office in Ukraine.

“Deployment of facilities for the production of weapons on the territory of Ukraine, of course, will not help to defuse tension and resolve the conflict around Ukraine. It cannot fundamentally change the situation. It also cannot somehow affect the predetermination of the implementation and completion of a special military operation,” Peskov said.

Russia negatively perceives the appearance in Ukraine of any enterprises for the production of weapons, and they become “an object of special attention for our military” if these weapons are used against the Russian Armed Forces, the Kremlin spokesman added.

The fact that Bae Systems will open an office and production in Ukraine was announced on August 31 by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in his Telegram channel, who met with the company’s CEO Charles Woodburn. According to him, the enterprise will produce L119 and M777 artillery systems, as well as CV90 infantry fighting vehicles.

After the start of the special operation, Western countries began to provide economic, political and military support to Ukraine. Large-scale sanctions were imposed against Russia, and weapons began to be supplied to Ukraine from the United States and European countries. Earlier, Russia sent a note of protest to all states, including the United States, over the supply of weapons to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that by pumping weapons to Ukraine, Western countries do not allow it to take constructive steps and do not allow it to negotiate with Russia.
