Kravtsov promised to start teaching history in September according to the textbook written with the participation of the Medical Textbook

Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov told President Vladimir Putin about a new history textbook for grade 11, according to which schoolchildren will start studying on September 1. According to him, the textbook was prepared “in the shortest possible time” with the participation of presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky, as well as MGIMO rector Anatoly Torkunov and historian Alexander Chubaryan.

“The textbook has been successfully tested, literally last week it was included in the federal list <...> I note that from September 1 of this year, all eleventh-graders of the country, and this is 650 thousand schoolchildren, will study according to the textbook of modern history, ”Sergey Kravtsov said during a meeting between Vladimir Putin and government members (quoted from “Interfax”).

The minister also noted that starting from the new academic year, schools will teach history according to a single program. “I note that earlier schools or even a teacher could teach according to a personally developed program, which led to a variety of teaching and interpretation of history and a bias in teaching certain topics,” he said.

In 2022, the authorities announced plans to develop new history textbooks for schoolchildren with sections on the Russian military operation in Ukraine. In June 2023, Sergey Kravtsov announced that the new history textbooks will include maps with the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions annexed to Russia.
