In Moscow, at the age of 62, Viktor Zubarev, a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation from the Krasnoyarsk Territory, died. This was reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the United Russia faction. Mr. Zubarev began political activity in the mid-1990s. He was elected to the Krasnoyarsk City Council, the regional legislative assembly and the State Duma of the Russian Federation. In addition, he worked for several years as Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. In 2021, Viktor Zubarev returned to the State Duma of the Russian Federation after winning the elections in the single-mandate constituency No. 56 (34.4% of the vote).
At the beginning of the year, the Presidium of the General Council of United Russia approved the commissioners for the elections in 2023. According to this decision, Mr. Zubarev was supposed to oversee the elections in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
According to a TASS source in the Central Election Commission, the by-election of a State Duma deputy from the Krasnoyarsk Territory will take place this year on a single voting day.
