Krasnodar basketball players set a season performance record

The next sports week passed with changeable results for the Kuban teams. Basketball players won, volleyball players lost, and in handball the results were divided. “MK in Kuban” tells about the main events of the week in team sports.

Lokomotiv-Kuban’s players have pampered their fans, albeit remotely. In Saratov, Krasnodar achieved a second victory in a row, beating the local Avtodor with a remarkable score of 100: 84. It attracts attention with a round figure of one hundred points. For the first time this season of the VTB United League, the Red-Greens have reached the desired milestone. Last season, Loko churned out 100 after 100 and was the best in the tournament in terms of this indicator. But now the team has sharply rejuvenated and did not come close to such performance.

Andrey Martyuk, the best young player of the last season of the VTB United League, helped in achieving the goal. He was unstoppable, scored 25 points. This is the best result in his forward career. He scored ten times out of twelve attempts.

The first quarter turned out to be even: the teams scored a quarter – 25 : 25. Moreover, the hosts were able to recoup the end of the period with long-range hits. At the beginning of the second quarter, Avtodor was able to take the lead for a short time, but this became a local success. Loko’s advantage further increased. The hosts were constantly trying to level it, and even before the final quarter of their attempts did not seem in vain. Seven minutes before the end, after the rush of the guests – 9: 0 – everything fell into place, Loko took the lead by twenty points – 87: 67. The teams ended the meeting with more youth lineups. And Krasnodar got a hundred thanks to a hit by the team captain, Vladislav Yemchenko.

Krasnodar Americans Darral Willis and Jaylen Burford also played successfully. The Russians helped with rebounds and assists. In the fight on the backboards, in general, the hosts played better, however, Loko outperformed the opponent in the accuracy of the throws and the accuracy of the general actions, allowing only six losses.

The head coach of Lokomotiv-Kuban Alexander Sekulich noted that the team, along with the result, showed a good game. He thanked the youth.

We have young blood, many young players. We are able to run fast. Therefore, we tried to play the ball as quickly as possible in order to score easy points in breakaways.

On November 9, Loko will play in a remote place – in Krasnoyarsk – against Enisey. Then a home test with the current champion of the VTB United League – Zenit from St. Petersburg. The team from the northern capital does not look invulnerable now: it left the site defeated twice. And Loko evened out the balance of victories and defeats – 4 : 4.

Fifty minutes of fighting and ten minutes of failure

SKIF handball players continue to be subjected to calendar tests. Recall: the first three games were against the winners of the last championship. There, the wards of Dmitry Karlov did not score points. Further, in their “weight category” they defeated “Dynamo-Sungul” and Omsk “Skif”. Now the Stavropol “Victor” has got into rivals, which started the championship phenomenally. Like SKIF, the Victorians played last year in the play-out, that is, in the Super League survival tournament, but at the same time managed to win the country’s cup. And now they go without points losses – relegated in the championship, despite not the longest distance traveled. And not to say that “Victor” was lucky with the schedule. The Stavropol team confirmed their viability with an away victory over the undisputed champions of Russia in the 21st century – the Chekhov Bears.

The game in Krasnodar turned out to be exciting, although the final score of 33:25 in favor of the guests may prove otherwise. But fifty minutes out of sixty passed on an equal footing.

In the first half, Krasnodar was in the lead – 7: 4. Vadim Kondratenko beat the balls in the goal, and SKIF’s field players completed the counterattacks. Tran Xuan Viet stood out, a pupil of the club with Vietnamese roots. He scored nine goals. Unfortunately, the game for the newcomer of the club, Ruslan Dashko, failed. At the gate of former teammates, he did not score a goal in four shots. At the same time, he also received a red card for three two-minute removals one and a half minutes before the end.

In the second half, the guests led more often, but the gap was usually tiny. And then a draw was established – 23 : 23. Alas, in the final ten minutes the Krasnodar players ran out of steam. They don’t have a wide selection on the bench. In the end, they scored only twice, while Viktor did not slow down and achieved a significant lead.

– Fifty minutes the game was ball to ball, I am satisfied with the game in this segment. However, the last ten minutes the team fell apart, – said Dmitry Karlov, SKIF’s mentor, in a post-match interview. – We didn’t score a penalty, we grabbed two-minute suspensions, we failed in defense. They played very badly. Why? Dolinin got injured, Bidanok got tired. Dashko did not help in the attack – we had to replace him, and the strength of the guys is not unlimited.

Viktor’s head coach Sergey Gorbok thanked the fans of both teams for their great support and noted that it was a real show.

Ahead of SKIF is a simpler opponent – Ufa’s Akbuzat. Although the game on the eighteenth of November will be away, which will complicate the task.

Without strength and emotion

The handball players of “Chernomorochka” from Novorossiysk achieved an important success in their history, reaching the 1/8 finals of the Russian Cup, and they did it just in Ufa. The team, created only this summer, defeated the main rival in the championship in the Major League – Ufa-Alisa. The result of the match in the capital of Bashkortostan is 33:30 in favor of Kubans. Eighteen goals for two were scored by sisters Alina and Arina Sergienko. The Novorossiysk team won twelve victories in twelve matches this season, ten in the championship, two in the cup and is confidently moving towards the goal of winning a ticket to the Super League. But there is still a long distance ahead. There will be four games in a row against the second-placed Kuban-3. The third team of the leading women’s handball club in the Krasnodar Territory is actively “pinching off” points from competitors.

Fatigue, like SKIF, also fettered the Dynamo volleyball players. After the semi-final stage of the Cup of Russia was over, where it was not possible to get a ticket to the Final Four, the team immediately went from Kaliningrad to Minsk without returning home. Krasnodar were ahead of “Minchanka” in the Super League standings, but there was practically no fight. The Belarusian team broke the resistance in the first game – 25 : 21, and the rest were given to it much easier – 25 : 16, 25 : 17. There was no leader in Dynamo who would take the initiative. Valeria Shevchuk and Anastasia Zhukova have only eight points each. As part of the host team, Ksenia Lebedkina scored 21 points.

Dynamo head coach Pavel Zabuslayev noted that the team’s emotions were melting along with their strength. On November 11, Krasnodar will meet at home with Sparta from Nizhny Novgorod.
