According to the resort management, the manager, on his own initiative, provided incorrect information to the guests so as not to argue with them, but in fact there were no restrictions in connection with the celebration of May 9th. State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein, who initiated the check, called the explanation ridiculous.

The head of the Committee on Information Policy of the State Duma, Alexander Khinshtein, announced the scandalous situation on his Telegram channel. The deputy published videos filmed by the guests of the resort that on May 9 there were no holiday banners, flags, St. Judging by the video, no mass events were held on the streets of the Krasnaya Polyana resort, no music was played. The guests of the resort recorded a conversation with an employee of one of the hotels on a dictaphone, who was asked a direct question: why in Krasnaya Polyana they do not pay due attention to the celebration of Victory Day? “We are trying to maintain neutrality,” the interlocutor replied. “We are by no means, well … we also congratulate those who celebrate, I myself celebrate, I congratulate you. We have neutrality, we can’t do this (hang out symbols).” The employee said that the hotel administration receives all guidance from the Krasnaya Polyana management company. Deputy Khinshtein called the position of the resort management a manifestation of “historical unconsciousness, which must be treated surgically.”

The press service of NJSC Krasnaya Polyana reported that after the publication of the audio recording, an internal check was carried out, during which it turned out that the misunderstanding was the fault of the hotel manager. “The guests asked questions about the reasons for the absence of holiday symbols. They assumed that this was the position of the management company. The employee decided not to argue with the guests and did not deny their assumptions. During the dialogue, the employee explained the general procedure for receiving instructions from the management company, which no longer related to the celebration of May 9th. During an internal audit, the employee confirmed that he had not been given instructions to ban the celebration of Victory Day, ”Krasnaya Polyana told Kommersant. The management of the resort clarified that on May 9, 2023, a concert with songs of the war years was held at the Polyana 960 site, a field kitchen was set up, a film screening of the film “Only Old Men Go to Battle” was organized at the Amphitheater 960 cultural center.

The night before, the press service of the administration of the Krasnodar Territory reported that Governor Veniamin Kondratiev instructed the Sochi City Hall to investigate in detail “on individual cases” on Victory Day, which were told by the guests of Krasnaya Polyana hotels. “Victory Day is a sacred holiday for all residents of Russia, and it must be celebrated everywhere,” the head of the region said. The Mayor’s Office of Sochi told Kommersant that the check on the statements of the guests of Krasnaya Polyana had not yet been completed.

However, Alexander Khinshtein, in a conversation with Kommersant, called the version of the resort management ridiculous: “Unfortunately, the reaction of the resort management indicates an intention to chat up the situation and divert attention from the main thing.” “If there was no ban, why did Krasnaya Polyana ignore the holiday?
