Fans of actress Anastasia Zavorotnyuk took the news of her discharge from the hospital, where the actress spent five months, with enthusiasm and hope.
The artist has been fighting glioblastoma, the most aggressive type of brain tumor, for four years now. Often, the life expectancy of most patients with this diagnosis does not exceed two years.
Oncologist, Doctor of Medical Sciences Igor Dolgopolov explained to the publication KP.RUIf a person has lived for four years, doctors use not only standard methods of therapy. “What is the story with glioblastoma: there is no official second-line therapy for this disease. This means that if a patient has undergone surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, but has a relapse, there is no standard treatment regimen. Then art begins,” the doctor pointed out.
He commented on the possible state of the actress after discharge. According to Dolgopolov, if the tumor occupied half the brain, then, of course, the person is already disabled.
If the glioblastoma was small and successfully removed, then the person can recover to his level of health before the disease and lead a normal life.
