It became known about the deterioration of the condition of the Olympic champion Turin-2006 in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov.

Earlier it was reported that doctors decided to amputate the athlete’s toes in the near future and continue to fight for the fingers. However, according to the Shot Telegram channel on Saturday evening, gangrene continues to progress. Now the necrosis has already spread to the feet, so the question arose of amputating the leg.

“The examination showed the presence of gas bubbles in the soft tissues of the left ankle joint and the lower third of the lower leg,” the report says. The doctors explained that this indicates that there is already an infection. While they are trying to find the reason why tissue necrosis occurs, but the forecasts are not the best.

Recall that on New Year’s holidays 45-year-old Kostomarov performed in Ilya Averbukh’s show “The Wizard of Oz”. And on January 10, he was admitted to the intensive care unit with pneumonia and was connected for some time to the ECMO oxygen saturation machine. Then the doctors reported that the athlete had necrosis of the legs and arms.
