Figure skater Roman Kostomarov, Olympic champion in ice dancing, spoke about purchasing a prosthesis for his arm.
“These are expensive toys,” he said about the prosthetics, RIA Novosti reports.
According to the athlete, he sold a Japanese Yamaha motorcycle to buy this miracle equipment.
Earlier, Kostomarov expressed hope of returning to the ice on skates. He noted that he will need to pick up new boots, skates and adapt to his prosthesis, since figure skating without an ankle is “quite a problematic thing.”
Roman Kostomarov was hospitalized on January 10 with pneumonia and influenza B. Due to prolonged connection to a blood oxygenation machine and a ventilator, his tissue began to die. The skater had both feet amputated, then his lower legs, his right hand and several fingers of his left hand.
