The 2006 Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov was discharged from the Kommunarka Clinical Center. He spent 175 days in the hospital.
“Behind 175 days, ahead of the whole life. Thanks to the doctors, I’m alive. Unfortunately, I lost a lot in this joint fight against death, but there was no other way, ”wrote Mr. Kostomarov on Instagram (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and banned). He also posted a video thanking the staff of the medical facility.
Roman Kostomarov was hospitalized with a severe form of pneumonia on January 10 of this year. The skater developed sepsis. Doctors amputated the athlete’s shins and fingers on one of his hands.
May 8 Roman Kostomarov wrote the first post after hospitalization, but did not give details about his health. June 27 TASS source informedthat the athlete’s hands have not yet been prosthetics, he is still in intensive care and practices on prosthetic legs for no more than an hour a day.
