Kostomarov congratulated the women doctors who saved him a year ago on the upcoming March 8

“Women are the weaker sex, but when you go through such tests, you understand that women are a very strong sex. Much stronger than men, to be honest. Because I’m sure that not every man will go through the same path that my wife, mother, daughter went through while I was in a coma and watching cartoons,” says the Olympic champion.

Roman came to the premiere of the film “Twice Born” with his family, his wife, son and daughter, and parents.

In January last year, a sudden illness knocked the athlete off his feet. He fell into a coma, doctors performed several operations on him and eventually were forced to amputate his upper and lower limbs. The whole country was rooting for him. The prognosis for recovery was less than one percent. “On January 10, he simply died,” says wife Oksana Domnina.

But Roman survived. “Now I worry about everything that I didn’t worry about then. For several months while I was away, I didn’t worry at all. Everything was fine. Therefore, all the suffering fell on the shoulders of my women,” he explains.

Today Kostomarov not only moves on his own two feet, even if he has prosthetics, but also runs, swims, snowboards and skates, and sings. He came to the meeting with fans and journalists as a teenager, wearing a white T-shirt and a black cap. His wife Oksana wore elegant red.

Roman admitted that after what happened he became even more of a romantic, and his son calls him Terminator 3000.

“Of course, the children were very worried too; in this regard, it was easier for me,” says the champion.
