The participants of the meeting at the American Ramstein air base in Germany have not yet been able to convince Berlin to agree on the supply of Leopard tanks to Ukraine. As writes “Kommersant”, the German authorities took time to think.
It is reported that the issue of the supply of tanks for the Armed Forces of Ukraine was the main one on the agenda of the eighth meeting of the contact group. Some countries, in particular Poland and Finland, have announced their readiness to supply these weapons, but without the consent of the German side, this is not yet possible.
On the eve of the summit, the new German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated that his country would itself supply Leopard-2 tanks to Ukraine and allow deliveries to other countries.
