The Ministry of Digital Transformation is going to expand cooperation with the Prosecutor General’s Office within the framework of the Anti-Phishing system to block fraudulent websites. About it informs Kommersant, citing a source familiar with the situation.
We are talking about the fight against phishing sites that are disguised as official company portals. According to the source, the Ministry of Digital Development wants to quickly block such resources until a court decision.
In June, the Ministry of Digital Transformation launched the Anti-Phishing information system, which can be used to identify fraudulent sites that pretend to be pages of government agencies, companies, marketplaces and social networks. The interlocutor of the newspaper, who is close to the development of the project, sees the problem in the fact that more than one month may pass before the blocking by a court decision, and all this time the resource will pose a threat.
Now Mintsifra oversees the development of the federal project “Information Security”. According to the document, by 2024 the blocking of phishing sites disguised as resources of state bodies must be carried out within 8 hours.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation told the newspaper that they were working together with the Prosecutor General’s Office to block resources in accordance with Federal Law 149 (“On Information, Information Technologies and Information Protection”). At the same time, the agency clarified that work is also ongoing to improve the Anti-Phishing system. The Prosecutor General’s Office did not respond to Kommersant’s request.
The Bank of Russia noted that they have already introduced a similar mechanism in their work. From December 1, 2021, the Central Bank sends information about suspicious sites to the Prosecutor General’s Office. They check the legality and validity of the arguments and transfer the materials to Roskomnadzor. The prosecutor’s office also informs law enforcement officers to bring the owner of the fraudulent site to justice.
