Klyuchevskoy volcano erupts in Kamchatka – Kommersant

On the night of June 23, the highest active volcano in Eurasia, Klyuchevskoy, began to erupt. Olga Girina, head of the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Group, leading researcher at the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, announced this.
“Not just a glow was recorded at night, but a peak explosive eruption of the Strombolian type. So far, such an eruption is not dangerous to anyone: neither to the population, nor to aviation, ”Ms. Girina explained to TASS.
The height of the volcano is 4,750 meters, its age is 7 thousand years. Last time its eruption happened in October 2022, an eruption with lava flows from October 2020 to March 2021. The nearest settlement to it is the village of Klyuchi in the Ust-Kamchatsky region, it is located on the slope of the volcano, 30 km from the crater.
