Klishas proposed to develop laws on the confiscation of Ukrainian property

The issue of the legal basis for the confiscation of property of Ukrainian citizens in Russia, the DPR and LPR, as well as the occupied Ukrainian regions, should be discussed with the government in the fall. This was stated by Andrey Klishas, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation.
“We need a clear legal basis for the confiscation in response to foreign property, in particular Ukrainian property in Russia and the liberated territories of Ukraine. This issue should be substantively discussed with the government in the fall,” Mr. Klishas wrote in his Telegram channel.
In March, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law on the nationalization of the property of Russia and its legal entities in Ukraine without compensation. On August 6, Mr. Zelensky announced that $765 million worth of Russian assets were confiscated in Ukraine. The Ukrainian authorities also plan to confiscate another 900 objects that belong to Russians or Russian companies.
The pro-Russian authorities of Zaporozhye in June also signed Decree on the nationalization of Ukrainian property in the region. Similar law suggested head of the Crimea Sergey Aksyonov.
