The statement was made at the opening of the All-Russian forum of class teachers, the speaker explained that he “looked at the latest sociological research.”
According to Kiriyenko, the survey results he looked at show that the ceremony with state symbols, as well as “Lessons about the important” in schools, is supported by “83% of parents, grandparents.” He expressed the opinion that “this is extremely necessary for the children themselves” and that their parents “feel <...> how it works.”
Kiriyenko also spoke out against the idea that politics is present in these ceremonies.
“This is not politics. This is pride in one’s country,” he said, concluding that if such pride is instilled from childhood, “it then goes with a person through his whole life.”
